Improving diabetes in pregnancy outcomes is vital for maternal and child health and to reduce the intergenerational impact of diabetes.This position is based in Cairns and will require regular travel within FNQ (4-6 times a year) and to the NT (approximately twice a year). The incumbent will coordinate activities for the Far North Queensland Region. A key output from this project will include enhancement of the sustainability of the FNQ Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinical Register by engaging with health professionals and clinical champions.The FNQ DIP Partnership Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that all ethical, clinical and engagement aspects of the Partnership are maintained in the conduct of the Partnership activities associated with the existing Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinical Register and associated activities. This position will have a key liaison role with clinical staff at both the hospital and community level.  The successful applicant will have strong project coordination skills and ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders. The FNQ DIP Partnership Coordinator will:Partnership coordination related to the aspects of the Diabetes across the Lifecourse: Northern Australia Partnership in Far North Queensland; specifically, leading and supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of key strategies to improve the management of diabetes before, during and after diabetes in pregnancy in line with identified priorities and funding.Undertake key tasks relevant to the project and research including; project management and conducting research according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, ensuring informed consent, maintaining confidentiality, collecting and storing data appropriately.Manage and maintain ethics requirements for the project including drafting relevant documents and reports, and timely submission within strict guidelines.Maintain existing relationships and develop new networking relationships with health services and community stakeholders in potential or established study sites in Far North Queensland.Facilitate workshops and other engagement activities with both health professionals and women with diabetes.Supervise project staff.The successful applicant will have:Relevant tertiary qualification and at least four (4) years of subsequent experience in a health-related field.Demonstrated experience in project co-ordination i.e. proven organisational abilities, good time management, punctuality and strong record keeping abilities.Highly developed written and oral communication skills with experience in writing high-level reports, and an ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.Highly developed facilitation and negotiation skills, flexibility and resourcefulness.Demonstrated experience working in a culturally safe manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, communities and organisations.Experience working in the Northern Australian context.Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a virtual/remote team in a multidisciplinary health/research team and to work independently with minimal guidance.Experience and competence in the use of a range of information technologies and computer software applications (including the internet, spreadsheet, database and word processing applications).Willingness and ability to undertake regular travel within FNQ (4-6 times a year) and to the NT (approximately twice a year).Contact: Tara Dias on 08 8946 8528 or tara.dias@menzies.edu.au  What we offer:6 weeks annual leaveOption to increase super to 14%Attractive salary package and benefits $111,196 - $136,153 salary package (comprising gross salary $87,586 - $109,478, superannuation and salary packaging benefits).Closing date: Sunday, 8 November 2020 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.For information on how to apply for this position and to obtain the Position Description and Selection Criteria please visit www.menzies.edu.au/careers or phone 08 8946 8626.   PD_FNQ DIP Partnership Coordinator AUD Cairns
