Up to 2 year full-time (1.0 FTE) contract based in DarwinAbout Menzies:As one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses, Menzies School of Health Research continues to translate its research into effective partnerships and programs in communities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific regionAbout the position:The Lecturer in Public Health will be part of the Menzies Education and Training team who coordinate and deliver the Charles Darwin University postgraduate courses in Public Health and Health Research.  The culturally diverse students who attempt these awards elect to study at Menzies because of the emphasis on global and Indigenous public health and the opportunity to utilise cutting-edge health research from Menzies researchers.The Lecturer in Public Health will:Under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning,  and the Education Coordinator, the appointee will be responsible for:Providing a high-quality learning experience for postgraduate public health and health research students in the online and/or face-to-face teaching environments (where there is a requirement for INTERNAL delivery they must be available for the whole semester to deliver the weekly face-to-face classes).Preparation of innovative course materials to enable the teaching of postgraduate public health and health research units for both the e-learning platform and face-to-face delivery.Regular interaction with all external and internal students for whom they are responsible.Marking student assessments in a timely manner, providing constructive feedback to students.Participation in moderation and quality improvement in the units that they deliver as required.Undertaking all the administrative functions which are connected to the units of teaching including tracking academic progress and finalization of student grades.Application of the CDU learning and teaching policies and procedures, particularly on matters of academic integrity, assessment, moderation and conduct.Any other academic duties, commensurate within the academic level as reasonably required by the Associate Dean and/or Director.The successful applicant will have:PhD or equivalent degree in a public health or allied discipline or a postgraduate degree with extensive public health practice and/or research experience.Demonstrated academic strengths in one or more of the following: global health, Indigenous health, health policy, health systems, health economics, epidemiology, environmental health and/or research methodologies.An awareness of current educational theories and a commitment to excellence in teaching.Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise daily, weekly and semester tasks, meet deadlines and complete administrative requirements with strong attention to detail.Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback.Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively and professionally with academic colleagues and students and people from diverse cultures.High level computer skills in particular in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Demonstrated ability to work in a team.Contact: Dr Sharon Chirgwin: sharon.chirgwin@menzies.edu.auWhat we offer:6 weeks annual leaveOption to increase super to 14%Attractive salary package and benefits $110,088 - $116,749 pa salary package (comprising gross salary $86,614 - $92,388 pa, superannuation and salary packaging benefits.Closing date: Sunday, 18 October 2020 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.To apply for this position, you will need to provide proof of your right to work in Australia.  This could be a working visa, evidence of permanent resident status, an Australian or New Zealand passport, Australian birth certificate or a certificate of Australian citizenship.For information on how to apply for this position and to obtain the Position Description and Selection Criteria please visit www.menzies.edu.au/careers or phone 08 8946 8626.   PD_Lecturer in Public Health AUD Darwin
