Part or full-time (0.8 – 1.0 FTE) contract until 31/12/2022 based in DarwinAbout Menzies:Menzies School of Health Research is one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving Indigenous, global and tropical health. Menzies works at the frontline, joining with partners across the Asia-Pacific as well as Indigenous communities across northern and central Australia.About the position:The primary role of this position will be to work on two multi-centre, randomised controlled studies (PETAL and PARROT) funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council.  The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute across other respiratory studies as part of the Respiratory Health Team.The PETAL study aims to determine whether twelve months of weekly antibiotics compared to placebo improves clinical outcomes of Indigenous children aged less than two years of age hospitalised with an acute lower respiratory infection.The PARROT study aims to determine whether 52 weeks of antibiotic prophylaxis is more effective than placebo in reducing the proportion of children with non-progressive neurological impairment admitted to hospital with lower respiratory tract infection.The successful candidate will have:Tertiary qualification in Nursing and registration with the relevant Board of the Health Professions Licensing Authority.Demonstrated experience working with, and knowledge of, health issues affecting Indigenous Australians.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to a range of audiences including a multidisciplinary research team with people from diverse cultures, including Indigenous peoples.Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as part of a multidisciplinary team and maintaining confidentiality of data and personal information.Demonstrated attention to detail, organisational and time management skills, punctuality, proven ability to meet deadlines, and strong record keeping skills.Strong negotiation skills, ability to take initiative, flexibility, resourcefulness, and strong problem-solving skills.High degree of computer literacy including experience with a range of computer software applications including the Microsoft Office suite and data management applications.A current Northern Territory Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), Australian driver’s licence, police clearance and the ability to travel to remote communities in the Northern Territory as required, sometimes for multiple days (approximately 3-4 times a year).What we offer:6 weeks annual leaveOption to increase super to 14%$109,237 - $117,740 salary package (comprising gross salary $85,868 - $93,187, superannuation and salary packaging benefits).Closing date:  21 June 2020 Contact: Dr Gabrielle McCallum on 08 8946 8565 or gabrielle.mccallum@menzies.edu.au  Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to applyApplicants are required to address the selection criteria.
