Communications Officer

Full-time, 1-year Fixed Term Contract, based in Darwin  Be part of an exciting opportunity!Menzies School of Health Research is looking for a Communications Officer to develop and deliver engaging written content for internal and external communications, media, branding and marketing, events and social media. You will support the Marketing and Communications Manager in aligning communications activities with Menzies strategic priorities, with a focus on building Menzies profile locally, nationally and internationally.With over 35 years of achievement in health and medical research, Menzies is currently setting its strategic direction over the future 5 years. This is an exciting time to join the team in the Communications role. What you will bring to the roleTo be successful in this role you must be highly motivated, organised, able to work in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will assist in the development and implementation of Menzies’ communications, marketing and branding strategies and initiatives, events related processes, and play a lead role in their implementation and delivery.You also possess:A tertiary qualification in a highly relevant field with at least four years’ subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education or training.Exceptional written & oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective communication, relationships and networks with colleagues, stakeholders and partners.Proven technical knowledge and strengths in marketing, advertising, brand management, social media, and communications.The ability to lead respectful and collaborative communications activities empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples voices.Proficiency in the Microsoft office suite, basic design software, databases, and web editing skills. Why MenziesMenzies is one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses.
