Full-time (100% FTE), Continuing contract based in DarwinAbout MenziesAs one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses, Menzies School of Health Research continues to translate its research into effective partnerships and programs in communities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.About the position:Menzies Legal provides advice on legal issues to Menzies School of Health Research and its affiliated centres. Menzies Legal is a small unit situated within the Corporate Services Division of Menzies School of Health Research. Menzies Legal deals with a high volume of matters and works closely with the Research Administration Office, researchers and funding entities.The Paralegal/Administrative Assistant will provide high quality administrative and paralegal support to the Manager, Contracts and Legal Services and Legal Advisor within Menzies Legal.The Paralegal and Administrative Assistant will:Provide a quality Paralegal and administrative support service for Menzies Legal, including the preparation of legal agreements and contracts and general correspondence.Respond to telephone and email enquiries and liaise with research and corporate support staff, internal and external contract managers and other stakeholders in a professional manner.Register a range of incoming and outgoing documents and correspondence using the organisational records management system.Maintain a database of matters undertaken by Menzies Legal.Prepare weekly and monthly reports of the status of matters.Prepare contracts for final acceptance and signature and facilitate execution.Maintain legal precedents and templates for research agreements.Manage a range of concurrent activities in a timely and efficient manner, under general direction and ensuring that timelines are adhered to.The successful applicant will have:Proven ability in the provision of a high quality level of administrative support to a professional team using initiative, drive and energy.Demonstrated consistent attention to detail.Advanced word processing skills with a proficiency in document and file management using electronic records management systems.Strong organisational and analytical skills with the ability to determine workload priorities, adhere to tight deadlines and the capacity to work under pressure.Experience in drafting routine correspondence, maintaining confidentiality and discretion at all times.A customer service attitude combined with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work as part of a team.Ability to work and communicate in a clear, objective and congenial manner, with clinical and research administrators, coordinators, researchers, internal and external contract managers, and other stakeholders.Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse culturesWhat we offer:6 weeks annual leaveOption to increase super to 14%Attractive salary package including superannuation and salary packaging benefits $86,982 - $92,959 pa, pro-rata (comprising a gross salary of $66,559 - $71,640).Contact: Tom Korecki on 0412 101 929 or email tom.korecki@menzies.edu.auClosing date:  Sunday, 10 October 2021Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply Applicants are required to address the selection criteria.
