Part-time (up to 0.8 FTE) contract to June 2022 based in DarwinAbout Menzies:As one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses, Menzies School of Health Research continues to translate its research into effective partnerships and programs in communities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.About the position:The Global and Tropical Health (GTH) Division is committed to tackling key areas of public health concern that impact on the health and wellbeing of people and communities across northern Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. With a focus on translational research we shape our research program through close collaboration with a diverse range of healthcare providers, policy makers and researchers, to target priority health issues. Our aim is to find meaningful and relevant ways to improve the health of people in our region. This position supports the implementation of health system strengthening projects in Timor-Leste. The Project Coordinator will provide administration and logistic support to the project leaders, ensuring that project activities are effectively coordinated and delivered in accordance with donor and country recipient requirements and Menzies’ policies and approved practices. The Project Coordinator will play a key role in the coordination of activity between Dili and Darwin.ARIA-RISE (Australian Regional Immunisation Alliance - Regional Immunisation Support and Engagement) is a DFAT funded program awarded to the University of Sydney. Under a Multi Institute Agreement (MIA) Menzies has responsibility for the Seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-19 and select vaccine-preventable diseases in Timor-Leste. This project will be conducted in Timor-Leste, with an expected duration of 18 months, to June 2022.This position is based in Darwin, Australia. It may require occasional travel to Timor Leste, for up to 5 days, twice a year. The successful applicant will have:Relevant tertiary qualification and at least 4 years subsequent experience in a health-related field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.Proven coordination and project management skills, including managing contract and donor requirements in compliance with relevant legislation and policies.High level financial management skills, including procurement, budget preparation, financial reporting and forecasting and experience working across multiple currencies.Proven high level report writing skills and the ability to correspond with stakeholders, manage sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality.Demonstrated organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workloads and to work independently, with minimal guidance in a fast paced environment whilst achieving results and meeting tight deadlines.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as the initiative to work without close supervision.Strong communication, negotiation and liaison skills, especially in a cross-cultural setting and the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.Willingness and ability to travel to Timor Leste for up to 5 days approximately twice a year.Contact: Dr Debbie Hall on 08 8946 8648 or  debbie.hall@menzies.edu.auWhat we offer:6 weeks annual leaveOption to increase super to 14%Attractive salary package and benefits $111,196 - $119,626 pa, pro-rata salary package (comprising gross salary $87,586 - $95,051 pa, pro-rata, superannuation and salary packaging benefits.Closing date:  Sunday, 31 January 2021 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to applyApplicants are required to address the selection criteria.
