Project Coordinator, FNQ DIP (Co-design)

Part-time (0.8 FTE), or Full-time (1.0 FTE)fixed-term contract until 31 December 2024Based in Cairns Be part of an exciting opportunity!Menzies is looking for a Project Coordinator to join the Diabetes across the Lifecourse team: Northern Australia Partnership, which aims to improve systems of care and services for people living with diabetes in northern Australia. The partnership is between researchers, policy makers and health service providers and includes work to improve the care and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth with diabetes, and women with diabetes in pregnancy and their babies.The successful applicant will lead the study’s engagement and co-design with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and communities (including women with diabetes, Elders, carers/family members), and health services to reduce diabetes risks before, during, and after pregnancy. You will be required to plan and co-lead regular visits to FNQ study locations to engage with community members, lead and support recruitment of study participants, conduct workshops, and gather data. You will work closely with the FNQ Diabetes Partnership Coordinator during the co-design process and may be required to support activities relating to the FNQ Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinical Register. What you will bring to the roleAs an enthusiastic, experienced project coordinator, you will have postgraduate qualifications relevant to research project management, or professional experience working in the health, community and/or research sector in Far North Queensland.You also possess:Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with, and contribute to, a remote team, and with a diverse range of individuals and organisations, including people from diverse cultures, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, health practitioners and policy makers.A demonstrated understanding of ethical considerations of research and be capable of handling sensitive and confidential information.Demonstrated project management/coordination experience including the capacity to prioritise tasks, time management skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.Excellent project management skills, computer skills and have the ability and willingness to travel to remote communities by light aircraft or 4WD within FNQ on a regular basis (monthly) and to NT as required. Why MenziesMenzies is one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses.
