Part-time (40% FTE), fixed-term contract to 30 June 2022Based in Darwin$111,220 - $119,651 salary package including superannuation and salary packaging benefits equivalent to a gross salary $87,586 - $95,051 pa, pro-rataAbout Menzies:As one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses, Menzies School of Health Research continues to translate its research into effective partnerships and programs in communities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.Overview of the Project Coordinator role:PRIME-TB (Papua New Guinea & Republic of Indonesia for the Micro Elimination of TB) is a multi-centre project managed at the Burnet Institute in collaboration with Menzies. The Menzies TB team delivers the project components implemented in Indonesia’s Papua Province. PRIME-TB is a health system strengthening project funded by the Indo-Pacific Health System Securities initiative, Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.Project goals are to improve patient and population health outcomes through quality improvements in delivery of TB prevention and management. Specific TB goals are to scale up TB prevention and active case finding, roll out comprehensive care for people with drug-resistant TB, increase the capacity of the health workforce through effective training and quality improvement activities, and improve knowledge of drug-resistant TB epidemiology through genomic sequencing of bacterial isolates.The impact of COVID-19 continues to require flexible and creative approaches; management of these projects will require adaptability and effective communication skills to ensure that funders and the relevant ethics committees are kept informed of progress and changes.The Project Coordinator will provide effective management of the geographically dispersed team to ensure effective and efficient operation of the project, and will complete the required administrative, reporting and budgeting tasks to meet the requirements of the funder and the administering institution.This position is based in Darwin and may involve intermittent international travel for up to 10 days at a time, when such travel becomes possible again.The responsibilities for this position include:Under the direction of the project investigators, ensure that PRIME-TB is conducted in accordance with agreed processes and timelines.Manage project budgeting and financial monitoring activities and support the implementation of contractual arrangements.Coordinate regular meetings of PRIME-TB team members and support workplan development.Work with the Australian and Indonesian study investigators to support the implementation of workforce development activities such as webinars and virtual quality improvement meetings.Facilitate effective communication between project staff at Menzies, partner and collaborating organisations and key stakeholders in Australia and Indonesia. Maintain effective communication with the Burnet Institute-based PRIME-TB project manager.Support the drafting of activity and financial reports for funding bodies, ethics committees and stakeholders.Work closely with Menzies corporate units, as required, including contributing to Menzies strategic goals.Any other tasks as reasonably required by the supervisor, manager and/or Director.The successful candidate will have:Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, combined with project management experience.Demonstrated experience in drafting and updating budgets, monitoring expenses, reviewing financial reports, and putting agreements in place.Demonstrated ability to work independently to deliver project outcomes, to complete required reports, and to be resourceful and to use initiative in the delivery of project objectives.Demonstrated success in supporting effective multidisciplinary teams.Demonstrated ability to build strong productive relationships both internally and externally with a diverse range of individuals and organisations and an ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures.Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.Demonstrated computing skills in all standard programs.Willingness and ability to travel internationally for up to 10 days at a time as well as the flexibility and ability to work outside normal hours when required.Desirable:Experience in international health research.Ability to communicate in Bahasa Indonesia. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
