Research Nurse / Midwife

Part-time (0.5 FTE) contract until 31st December 2024Based in Gove, Nhulunbuy. Be part of an exciting opportunity!Menzies is looking for a Research Nurse / Midwife to join the Maternal Health program, and to support the GLU study which aims to develop and validate new diagnostic tests for preterm births with an aim to safely lower preterm birth rates and associated morbidities.Based in Gove, Nhulunbuy, the successful applicant will be required to undertake procedures relevant to the research project such as explaining the project to potential participants, obtain informed consent, undertake clinical assessments of eligibility, review medical records, complete medical questionnaires, collect specimens for analysis and transport to laboratories as required, monitor adverse events and conduct ongoing participant examinations and assessments as required. What you will bring to the roleAs an enthusiastic, qualified health professional, you will have qualifications in Midwifery or Nursing with subsequent experience of at least four (4) years, and registration with the relevant Board of the Health Professions Licensing Authority.You will have demonstrated experience working with First Nations peoples and of the health issues which they may experience. They will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with community stakeholders, First Nations community organisations, and the ability to work collaboratively with health professionals and academic colleagues. This position requires the ability to work sensitively in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings with the skills to engage and communicate with First Nations peoples.You will also have demonstrated initiative, problem solving and a strong work ethic with capacity to work independently without direct supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.
