Research Nurse/Research MidwifeFull-time, fixed-term contract until 30th June 2023Based in Darwin  Be part of an exciting opportunity!Menzies is looking for a Research Nurse/Research Midwife to join the D-Kids Trial study. The study will investigate whether daily vitamin D supplementation compared to placebo given to mothers from 28 weeks gestation until birth and their infants from birth until 4 months of age, reduces the incidence of acute respiratory infections (ARIs) in terms of hospitalisations or primary care presentations in the infants’ first twelve months of life. The trial will be the first to involve Indigenous Australians and guide best practice for vitamin D supplementation in pregnancy and infancy for the prevention of ARIs.The role of the Research Nurse/Research Midwife is to ensure that the trial meets standards of Good Clinical Practice, including informed consent, participant eligibility assessments and adverse event monitoring.This position is based in Darwin and will require travel to rural and remote communities via light aircraft and/or 4WD during recruitment of study participants, up to twice a month.What you will bring to the roleAs an enthusiastic, qualified health professional, you will have tertiary qualifications in Midwifery or Nursing and/or experience in health care service delivery and medical records systems in the Northern Territory or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in personal data and record management.The successful applicant will also have exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with community stakeholders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations, and the ability to work collaboratively with health professionals and academic colleagues.
