Are you looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity that uses your strong research, communication and stakeholder engagement skills?If this sounds like you, join our team to help make a difference. Be part of an exciting opportunity!Menzies School of Health Research is looking to engage a Senior Research Officer to join a dynamic multi-institutional team working to bring about improvements in Aboriginal health in remote and rural Australia.The two main projects the successful applicant will work on are "The Right Workforce at the Right Time: Improving the Effectiveness and Efficiency of Aeromedical Retrieval Systems in Remote Australia", which entails research translation of the learnings from the evaluation of the Central Australian Medical Retrieval and Consultation Centre (MRaCC) to other retrieval services in remote regions of Australia; and "Optimising aeromedical retrievals in remote Northern Territory " which will leverage learnings from the evaluation of the Central Australian retrieval model to strengthen the quality of remote retrievals in the Top End, Big Rivers and East Arnhem Regional Health Service (TERHS).The main duties of the Senior Research Officer involve:Work in collaboration with Menzies Centre for Health and Other Complex Systems research teams to better understand what retrieval model(s) are most appropriate and most effective for remote Australians.Assisting with project administration including communication with research team members, Steering Committee members and health services; arranging team meetings, field visits and research translation activities.Develop ethics applications or submit ethics amendments or reports, as needed.Assist with writing of conference and seminar papers and manuscripts to be published as research papers in high quality peer reviewed journals.The position is based in Alice Springs.Please see the Position Description for a full list of responsibilities including a list of essential selection criteria. What we would like you to bring to the roleExceptional verbal and written communication skills, sound interpersonal and negotiation skills, self-confidence, and the ability to interact effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds, particularly with an understanding of how to work successfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.Other qualities:A PhD or equivalent combination of tertiary qualification with a record of relevant research experience or professional achievementDemonstrated experience working in complex multidisciplinary health research projects.Mixed methods analytical skills.Demonstrated experience in conducting literature searches and reviews.A demonstrated record of publication in health services research, health workforce or similar relevant fields.Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team Why MenziesMenzies is one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses.
