Program Manager

The role:Menzies is looking for a Program Manager to lead a suite of projects and initiatives being implemented by the Deputy Director Research.  Areas of work include First Nations health and supporting early-to-mid-career researchers at Menzies.In this position you will also be required to:-Lead the management of high-level administrative processes that support key program areas including management of research activities, and liaison with investigators, collaborators, staff, funding bodies and other stakeholders.Provide strategic program management support for the rheumatic fever program, including budget development and monitoring, contract management, reporting to ethics committees and funding agencies and any other activities required to facilitate a successful outcome for the studies.Provide expert assistance to the Communicate Study Project Coordinator to support research coordination and the provision of ongoing staff guidance and mentorship.Play a leading role in the administration and development of a comprehensive early-to-mid-career researchers (EMCR) education program.Please refer to the Position Description to view a full list of primary responsibilities and selection criteria relevant to this role.About you:As a motivated individual, you will come with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, to a range of audiences including people from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds.You also have:Postgraduate qualifications and extensive proven relevant expertise in a research setting.Demonstrated strong leadership capacity, evidenced in well-developed problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills.Proven financial management experience, including a sound knowledge of budgetary processes, invoicing, payments and acquittals, and experience in managing multiple budgets concurrently.Demonstrated skills and experience in staff, student, and team management, with a positive attitude and a commitment to building capacity and capability in others.About Menzies:Menzies is one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses.
