About the Role:Menzies is looking for a Senior Aboriginal Health Practitioner to be part of a new, randomised controlled trial to assess whether a single dose of oral azithromycin given before birth will reduce the rate of bacterial infections in mothers and babies.The Senior Aboriginal Health Practitioner will be responsible for participant recruitment, clinical assessments, data collection and entry and conducting follow up visits within hospitals, clinics and communities in addition to providing daily supervision and guidance to the teams Aboriginal Health Practitioners.   This position will be based in Darwin and will require travel to remote communities (by light aircraft or 4WD) for up to 3 days per trip and several times per year. What you will bring to the roleAs an enthusiastic, qualified Senior Aboriginal Health Practitioner, you will have at least four (4) years’ experience working in maternal/child health or in remote Indigenous community health environments such as within communities, hospitals and health service settings in the Northern Territory where you have experience in providing recommendations to health professionals and developing treatment plans.In addition, you will have demonstrated experience supervising and developing junior employee as well as  having the relevant Aboriginal Health Practitioner qualification and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Why MenziesMenzies is one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses.
